AC Milan is pleased to announce the appointment of Sergio Navarro Barquero as Head Coach of Milan Futuro.
Born in Huelva, Andalusia, Navarro began his coaching career in the Youth Sector of Castellón in 2006. Following spells in Russia with Rubin Kazan and back in Spain with Villarreal, where he continued working in youth development, he embarked on his first top-flight managerial experience in 2017 with Ukrainian Premier League side Karpaty Lviv. He returned to Spain in 2018 to join Paco López's coaching staff at Levante, continuing a career path that led to his appointment as Head of Youth Development at Athletic Club between 2022 and 2025. During his time in Bilbao, he oversaw one of Europe's most highly regarded youth development systems, renowned for producing and nurturing elite football talent.
During the 2025/26 season, Navarro took charge of Debrecen in Hungary, marking his second experience as a professional First Team Head Coach.
"Appointing Sergio represents the ideal blend of qualities we were looking for: a Coach who already understands the demands of professional football and who, above all, has focused on developing young talent in one of Europe’s leading football environments. We believe these qualities make him the ideal person to help shape our project, whose primary objective is to develop and maximise talent," said Jovan Kirovski, Rossoneri's Sport Development Director.
AC Milan extends a warm welcome to Sergio and wishes him every success in his new role.
